PERSONAL STATEMENT

In 1992, after graduating from the Faculty of Orthodox Theology of the University of Bucharest, following an examination I became Graduate Reader, then Assisting Lecturer at "Dumitru Staniloae" Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Iasi, at the Chair of History and Philosophy of Religions. This was the subject I had chosen for my postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology of Bucharest University where I had also entered the doctoral research programme, in the field of History and Philosophy of Religions, under Prof. Remus Rus` tutorship.

I became part of the teaching staff of "Dumitru Staniloae" Faculty of Orthodox Theology in 1993, becoming a Reader in Dogmatics of the Chair of Systematic Theology since 2001. I was also appointed Director of "St. Nicholas" Ecumenical Institute, a position that, to a certain extent, involves both didactic activity and the promotiing of theological dialogue and representation, by virtue of the specific missionary activity that the Church is pursuing in the contemporary context.

Another aspect of my research activity consisted of organising seminars, roundtable discussions and talks on ecumenical issues, under the aegis of "St. Nicholas" Ecumenical Institute. It is worth mentioning the special task granted by the Church hierarchs to promote inter-Christian, inter-Orthodox and inter-Church relations with relevant organisations and representatives from Romania and abroad.

In October 1999, I defended my doctoral thesis entitled Mystical Life and Knowledge: Christianity and Islam in the First Centuries of Coexistence when I was awarded the title of "Doctor of Theology" of the University of Bucharest, of the Chair of History and Philosophy of Religions. The paper has been published. Currently I am translating Samuel Harakas` Living the Faith and preparing a course book of Dogmatic Theology and a paper on the dogmatic foundations of Orthodox Iconography.
